Gambling help by state: how to use this table
- In danger? Call 911 or 988. For help with gambling, call or text 1-800-MY-RESET from any state.
- Find your state's self-exclusion program. Where one exists, it covers the state's licensed casinos, sportsbooks or both, for a term you choose.
- Check what it leaves out. State programs work through licensed operators, so they don't reach offshore sites, sweepstakes casinos or prediction markets.
- Use your phone as well. Block the betting apps and sites while your enrollment goes through.
Rows marked "partly checked" have a note at the bottom of the page saying what we could not confirm. For the general plan that works in any state, see how to stop gambling.

Why states list different helpline numbers
The national number changed twice in a short time. The National Council on Problem Gambling moved its helpline to 1-800-522-4700 in September 2025, then to 1-800-MY-RESET on January 29, 2026. The Nevada Gaming Control Board says 1-800-MY-RESET, 1-800-522-4700 and 1-800-GAMBLER all still work (Notice 2026-09). State pages haven't all caught up, which is why you see different numbers in the table. Any of them will get you to a person.
What no state program covers
Self-exclusion works through the operators a state licenses. Offshore sportsbooks, sweepstakes casinos and prediction markets aren't on any state list, and a ban can take days to start.
NoGambling blocks the betting apps you pick on your iPhone through Apple's Screen Time. Since version 1.3.0 it also blocks the most popular gambling sites in your country in Safari. In the US that list includes the big sportsbooks, offshore books like Bovada, sweepstakes casinos like Stake.us and Chumba, and prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket. Blocking needs iOS 16 or later. For the moment an urge hits, the panic button takes you through six steps, ending with a text to someone you trust.

NoGambling is free to try. After that you pick a monthly, yearly or one-time lifetime plan, with prices shown on the App Store.
How we checked
We checked every row in October 2026 against the state's own pages: the gaming regulator, the health or human services agency, the lottery, or the state's council on problem gambling. Where a state site blocked automated checks, or a fact rested only on news reports, the row is marked partly checked. 32 of 51 rows are fully checked. Rules change often, so confirm on the linked page before you enroll.
Partly checked rows
- Alaska: legal status from a bill tracker (the legislature's site blocks automated checks); no state gambling helpline found.
- Arizona: the state's sites block automated checks, so details come from indexed copies of the official pages.
- Arkansas: no enrollment page or terms found for casino self-exclusion; a 2025 statewide law is reported only by third parties.
- Florida: per-operator self-exclusion terms not checked.
- Hawaii: no state gambling helpline found; the legislature's site blocks automated checks.
- Idaho: the legislature's site did not connect, so the legal status was not re-checked live.
- Kansas: the regulator's site did not load from here, and sources disagree on the exclusion terms.
- Kentucky: no official enrollment page or term options found for sports betting self-exclusion.
- Louisiana: whether the list also blocks sports betting apps rests on a 2022 law change not confirmed on the legislature's site; the Gaming Control Board's site blocks automated checks.
- Missouri: the Gaming Commission's pages don't say how to enroll on the sports betting list, and they print the helpline number two different ways.
- Montana: self-exclusion terms and enrollment steps not found; the DOJ site blocks automated checks.
- New Hampshire: no official self-exclusion page found, and the state's health and compliance sites block automated checks.
- New Mexico: tribal-only sports betting status rests on 2018 reporting.
- North Dakota: sports betting status comes from trade press (Legal Sports Report, 2025), and the state health department's site did not load.
- Rhode Island: casino self-exclusion terms are not published.
- South Dakota: online betting is not mentioned on the regulator's page, and tribal sports betting was not checked.
- Utah: no state gambling helpline found; the legislature's site did not connect.
- Vermont: the Department of Liquor and Lottery's site blocks automated checks, so term options were confirmed only through the state-funded VTGamblingHelp site.
- Wisconsin: an online sports betting law run through the tribes was signed in April 2026 but is not live yet (Covers); the state gaming division's site did not load.
Questions
Is there one national self-exclusion list in the US?
No. Each state runs its own program, and some states have none. Some casino and sportsbook companies apply a ban from one state at their properties in other states, so ask each operator.
What is the national gambling helpline number?
Call or text 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). It is free, confidential and open 24/7. Many states also run their own line, listed in the table on this page.
What can I do if my state has no self-exclusion program?
Ask each casino or sportsbook you use for its own self-exclusion, close your betting accounts, and block the apps and sites on your phone. Then call your state's helpline, or 1-800-MY-RESET, to find counseling near you.
